Journal entry 1

For this post I had to look into which type of articles I needed for my question. The main literature I found useful were the Cohort articles. These are studies done on a groups of people where the outcome is unknown but the study group all have something in common. My question is "Is there a relationship between adolescence obesity, suicide and depression? If there is what can be done to help with this health problem?". The research is looking for any relationship between the three key word; obesity, suicide and depression, with kids in middle school or high school. Now there are two different types of studies done with this, a simple cohort study where they give them surveys once or a longitudinal study, where they give them a survey multiple time to see if there was any progression of a mood disorder or obesity.  I did find an example of a cross sectional study, which is a study on a different group of people that differ in interest but still share some common characteristics. This study used people looking for help with their obesity and was given a survey to see if emotional eating was the cause of obesity.
